The story of our group and this photo...
Our group was brought together by my friend Taryn. She met all of us from different areas of life - school, work, etc. I met Taryn at a previous job and even after we left that workplace, we remained close and have now known each other for over 10 years. Taryn brought all of us together I think secretly knowing that we all needed the companionship of this group. We are all incredibly different, but I think that is why we are all stuck together like glue. Each of us brings something different to the table...
Taryn- The most wonderful human you will ever meet. I've never known someone so compassionate, thoughtful and empathetic. She is my go to when I need someone to truly listen without judgement.
Sam- Sam is the girl that doesn't know how brilliant she is in so many ways. She is beautiful, driven, smart, funny and doesn't give herself enough credit for all of these characteristics. She is always up for anything- even doing a crazy 20 mile hike in the blistering sun. I know she would always be there in a pinch.
Mackenzie- There is no end to the generosity this girl has. You need a place to stay - she'll put you up. You need someone to throw a baby shower - she's already ordering decorations. Her ability to give knows no limits.
Cassie- She is the spunky one of our bunch. She's never on time, but you are always excited when she shows up. She is the absolute life of the party and constantly makes you laugh. She is the one who will not be able to bail you out of jail because she'll probably be right next to you in the cell.
Stephanie- This girl is always baking, cooking or throwing a gathering all because she loves to make people happy. If you find a batch of cookies on your doorstep, they are likely from her.
Me- I don't know what to say about myself, but I know my friends always appreciate the creativity I bring to the table. I am also the planner. My friends often say that they just need to know when to show up and they know I'll take care of the rest.
We've made it a point to spend time all together regularly. I'm not talking a couple times a year, I'm talking a couple times a month. It's challenging to do with having families, work and life responsibilities. But we all value our time together so much that we make it a priority. It doesn't have to be anything spectacular. It's as simple as meeting out for coffee or watching a movie at one of our homes or collectively taking all of our kids to the same place so we can be together.
The particular outing in this picture was a special one for me though... We had all taken a Monday off from work, parenting, etc. to go to Kohler Andrae to sit on the beach and relax before summer was over. It was about a week before my birthday and the girls ended up unknowingly to me turning this getaway into a bit of a celebration. They snuck a basket of gifts into my trunk, had picked up cupcakes and supplied me with birthday swag. It was a perfect day filled with plenty of laughter and sunshine.
Every day I'm grateful for this group of ladies for being there in every walk of life.
Carly Jones and I (Danielle Showers) have been friends for what seems like forever!!!! We started out as neighbors in the country of baraboo. We love getting the kids together to play while the adults shit the shoot, play cards, drinking games, dinner dates and boating. Our love for wine has brought us together as girlfriends with yearly tasting trips!! Our friendship brought our families close and we take vacation every summer with each other. We go around the 4th of July to Michigan where Carly and Ryan first grew up and now where we have become family with their family! Our husbands are close also and have become good hunting buddies. We often rant about them to each other! lol! We know the Good the bad and the ugly about each other!!! We also do a Friendsgiving each year since we both don't have close family nearby.
Strangers to Neighbors to Girlfriends and now family! We will always cherish our friendship!
Oh the story behind the Defo(Deforest) girls!
We are not just high school besties but middle school besties and some elementary school besties. We have a few missing ladies here due to our crazy parenting schedules but every year we try to have multiple dinner get togethers and once a year weekend get aways. When together it’s nothing but laughter until our “abs” hurt and tears until the wine gone! The story of our friendship would take you hours to read and a case of girlfriend wine to drink
This is our 60 yr girlfriend weekend. Tami Sherman Tangney. Debbie Sefkar Craker. Theresa Kingery Rake. Sally Schaefer Aiken. Paula Powers Brown. We have been friends since kindergarten at St John's school. I can't image life without these girls by my side.
My name is Katy Singer and I am submitting a photo for the Girlfriend contest! I have been coming to Baraboo Bluff since 2017! I was finally able to share your lovely wines with my girlfriends of over 10 years last weekend celebrating a 30th birthday! We all met at UW Whitewater and have been closer than ever since the day we met at college. We all love drinking wines, from sweets to dry!
We are a college friend group that formed freshman year at UW-Green Bay, in the fall of 2010. Our friendship comes with hilarious stories from that era, and growing up together now in our early 30s.
This particular photo is from a reunion we had up in Door County on the Anderson dock! We affectionally call ourselves the 'Frat Pad'.
Our friend group is one of a kind - we text all day every day in our iMessage group chat. We are there for each other during the highs, lows, and mundane, every day in between.
This picture was taken at your beautiful winery with the best views. We were celebrating Dana’s birthday (the one in the middle) and I told her we had to come to Baraboo Bluff Winery because of my love for all of the Girlfriend wines. Us three girls have been friends since the beginning of high school. We call ourselves “The Musks” (Short for Three Musketeers that everyone would call us). We are inseparable, even after some of us got married, we always make time for one another.
These ladies and I have been taking a summer girls trip every year for five years but our friendships span over two decades! It takes a lot to get together in this busy world of ours but we always make time and space for our friendships to grow and thrive. One of the photos is when we were swimming under a waterfall in Costa Rica and the other is... I'mm sure you can guess, a bit closer to home. No matter where we move we always find a way to spend some precious days together in the summer. We act crazy, laugh non stop, and fill others around us with joy by sharing our fun loving spirit with anyone who stumbles along our path. And of course there may be a little drinking involved.
Were a group of 5 that have been friends for 50+ years. We've been through so much through the years. Weddings, babies, deaths of parents and siblings. Still our friendship stays so strong. For the past 5 or so years we've come on a girls trip to the Dells. We stumbled upon your beautiful winery and have been coming for a visit every time!

We are three women who were brought together by one common denominator, a man. Today we are the ex-wife, ex-girlfriend, and ex-friend to a man we all once cherished in love, friendship, and laughter. As the ex-wife I have never got along with his girlfriends, not for lack of trying. Then came along a special girlfriend who I connected with and adored not only for who she was but for how she treated and loved my children. This girlfriend had a best friend who I also connected with and found a new friend of my own in. For a period of time it felt like the biggest blessing. Unfortunately life happens and the man who broke my heart also broke hers. Breakups are messy and hard, but out of these turn of events I got two new close wonderful friends. The amount of time we spent laughing to the point of tears is unreal, as anyone could have attested to the day we took this photo at Baraboo Bluff winery. The ex in case you were wondering has tried to forbid us to be friends, but as you can see strong women can’t be told what to do…this might also be the reason we are the ex-wife, ex-girlfriend, and ex-friend. Strong women don’t take shit from anyone and they definitely stick together.
